Alight Beginners Core Strength SuperPowers Yoga

Beginners Core Yoga

Beginners Core Yoga Flow.

Mondays 6pm -7:15pm. Linde Reserve Stepney.

About Core Strength Flow:

Core strength Flow uses techniques inspired by Core Strength Vinyasa (developed by Sadie Nardini).  Originally promoted for weight-loss and abdominal toning, the anatomical logic and physical protection this practice offers  was soon recognized to be invaluable.

Benefits of Core Strength Flow:

  • Injury prevention
  • optimal alignment
  • less joint and muscle tension
  • “real” core strength for spinal support in each pose.
  • “Back off to go deeper”
  • Heat building practice that tones the body.
  • Every pose we practice is the equivalent of a pose and a half in other techniques.
  • Get that Sadie “belly bonfire” going. Light your inner fire!

What’s different about Alight Beginners Yoga in general?

A lot! Firstly, we bend our knees while practicing forward bends. Why? “The back is first” The primary function of a forward bend is to stretch the structures of the back. The back cannot fully elongate until: our forward bends are perfect, or we bend the knees. Speed is not important in Yoga but people sometimes mistakenly think that by straining and pushing we can “get there” quicker. This is not so. We find the truth of the pose with variations (such as bending the knees) and then we improve. This is a much more enjoyable process and it is much kinder and more respectful for the body. Stop pushing! Find your breath, relax into the pose and go deeper. I practiced forward bends with straight legs for long, long years and it wasn’t until I softened and bent my knees did I really begin to further the pose! I was once a very bad forward-bender even though I attended Yoga class all of the time! Let me teach you the glory of being soft and the virtue of grace (metaphysical) in our practice. Come!
